The first person to call me at 624-5722 or 800-397-5722 with the correct answer wins! Here’s your question: [This was once a common feature in cars and trucks - today not one can be found with this. What was it?]
And we have a WINNER!! Jana Petre knew that it was a dimmer switch on the floorboard. Jana’s rummaging around thru the Prize Closet now…congrats!
Tonight is the Seward County Relay For Life event, beginning at 7pm and going until 7am at Light Park in Liberal. I guess it actually begins at 6pm with the gathering of the survivors, but the opening ceremonies, welcome and introduction of survivors starts at 7. There are various activities, entertainment, auctions and giveaways scheduled throughout the night and the public is welcome. They hope to have a BIG crowd and all money raised goes to the American Cancer Society. If you have any questions call Annette at 624-3318.
Be sure to join us Saturday for 2 of our birthday parties that we’ll hold throughout the summer at our sponsors. The first will be at Browns Shoe Fit from 10:30 to 12:30. We’ll be serving up birthday cake and giving away prizes and of course Browns has some great deals going on. Then we head to Fish World from 1 to 3. Fish World is right next door to the B1075 studios in Broadcast Square here in Liberal. Hope to see you there!!

Boy, did I have ya’ll stumped or what?
Was looking for an answer to my 10 o’clock Trivia from yesterday: According to one survey - more than 75 percent of Americans recognize THIS brand name - but the same survey revealed they don’t like the brand. What is it? (HINT: it’s something that some businesses purchase/lease…but it’s not something they are required to have. PS: it is not something you or I could just go in a store & buy, nor would we really want to. It’s a specific service that really only certain businesses would want/need).
And the answer IS …. Muzak …. you know, that crappy elevator music that they play
STILL up for grabs is the Quixx High Performance Acrylic Scratch Remover (www.Quixx-USA.com). Tune in tomorrow for your chance at it.
Today at about 9:20 I gave a book of recipes, some Fiber One bars and cereal to give away ($28 value) and for 10 O’clock Trivia I gave away everyone’s favorite lawn game, Jarts ($19.99 value).

Today I’ll just try my best to explain our upcoming summer promotion and giveaways—-
Our Birthday Celebration Tour / Birthday Bingo can be broken down into 4 parts
1: Kickoff Birthday Parties - KSCB is celebrating 60 years of broadcasting and we’re throwing a series of birthday parties to kick things off and hand out the Birthday Bingo Cards. Seaboard Foods will be cooking up pork burgers and hot dogs and we’ll be serving up birthday cake and giving away prizes…including a Grand Prize of $60 in gasoline! And we’ll be handing out the all-important Birthday Bingo Cards! I’ll explain why you’ll definitely want one of those a little further down. ALL of the parties will begin at 11:30am and end at 1pm.
The dates and locations of the kickoff parties are:
Friday, May 30 - Hugoton @ Yardmaster Lawn, Landscape & Gifts
Monday, June 2 - Liberal @ Broadcast Square
Tuesday, June 3 - Elkhart @ Epic PCS
Thursday, June 5 - Perryton @ Perryton Office Supply
Friday, June 6 - Guymon @ PTCI
2: Birthday Bingo - is a chance for you to win $60 in gift certificates (3 - $20 gift certificates from our many sponsors) each time you get a BINGO, so be sure you make it to one of the Birthday Parties to pick up your Bingo Card and then be ready to listen each Monday thru Friday for us to announce at least 5 new bingo numbers throughout the day. [Be sure to check the back of the Bingo Card for savings from our sponsors!]
You will need to KEEP your Bingo Card throughout the summer, as we will play multiple games using the SAME card. As soon as we get a winner we will start an all new game with all new numbers. I would suggest that you make copies of your original card and mark them Game 1, Game 2, etc. because that is how we’ll call out the numbers. (IE: Game 1; B2, I10 / Game 2; N20, O70, etc.) And don’t worry about missing a called number, because each day we will post the previous day’s numbers at www.kscb.net
However you choose to keep track of the numbers given on-air, be sure to keep your original Bingo Card, because you will need it to claim your prize(s) when you get a BINGO. Either by bringing them by the studio or by faxing them to us at 620-624-7885. When we have a verified winner we will begin an all new game. We’re expecting to have a new winner every four days or so.
3: Also as a part of the Birthday Celebration Tour we will be live on location at numerous sponsor locations serving up cake, punch and MORE prizes, so stay tuned for announcements about those dates, times and locations.
4: It will all wrap up with the Grand Finale on August 2nd at South Blue Bonnet Park in Liberal. We’ll serve pork burgers and hot dogs and you’ll want to be there, and bring your Bingo Card, because we’ll play BINGO for more prizes as well as have drawings during the Final Birthday Party of the summer.
Good luck and stay tuned for more details! cuz i’m sure I missed something

Music News 5/23/8
Confirming a report posted at the web site of Canada’s Much Music channel earlier this week, a spokesperson for the Toronto Skydome/Rogers Centre told the Globe and Mail on Thursday (May 22nd) that “preliminary discussions” are underway for Led Zeppelin to perform at the venue. A “reliable source” in the Much Music report indicated that the band would perform four shows at the stadium in August. While the August shows are apparently unlikely because of baseball and other events, stadium communications manager Nadia Flamm told the paper, “It’s my understanding that some preliminary discussions are going on” about Zeppelin performing its first North American shows in nearly 20 years there.
Flaim added, “Just based on the time needed for conversion purposes, it would be a very tight squeeze” to work the shows into the August schedule around Blue Jays games and other sporting events.
The source said in the Much Music report that these will likely be Zeppelin’s only North American performances.
Rumors have been rampant about a Led Zeppelin tour ever since last December, when the three surviving original members and drummer Jason Bonham performed at London’s O2 Arena as part of a tribute to late Atlantic Records co-founder Ahmet Ertegun.
None of the band members have ruled out playing together again, although singer Robert Plant is touring all summer with singer Alison Krauss in support of their collaborative album, Raising Sand.
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band kicked off their latest European leg last night (May 22nd) in Dublin, Ireland.
Backstreets.com reported that the show, which was the band’s first outdoor stadium concert of their Magic tour, featured few surprises, with Patti Scialfa still absent despite earlier reports that she would be on board for the band’s European shows.
One highlight include longtime Springsteen friend Southside Johnny Lyons joining in on the Born To Run classic “Tenth Avenue Freeze Out.”
Springsteen’s biographer and good friend, rock journalist Dave Marsh, says that usually Springsteen comes clean about the meaning behind his songs, but with Springsteen’s latest single — and concert highlight — “Girls In Their Summer Clothes,” Springsteen remains cagey as to what the song is really about.
Weezer has made a new track called “Troublemaker,” available through the iTunes store, according to Pitchfork Media. The tune, which opens the band’s upcoming self-titled album, is the third to be officially issued from the set online, following current single “Pork and Beans” and “The Greatest Man That Ever Lived (Variations on a Shaker Hymn).” The entire disc, nicknamed “the Red Album,” will be released on June 3rd. Anyone who buys the first three songs at iTunes now will not be charged the full album price if they purchase the rest of the set digitally.
The release date of the album was moved up three weeks from June 24th to the 3rd after eight songs were leaked online earlier this month.
A deluxe edition of the 10-track album will contain four bonus cuts and will also arrive on the 3rd, but initially as a digital release only.
A 22-year-old freelance photographer spoke with St. Louis’ Riverfront Times on Thursday (May 22nd) about her assault by one of My Chemical Romance’s security team when the band played there earlier this month. Nichole Torpea said she was shooting the band’s May 3rd concert at the Pageant when a man, whom she described as over six feet tall, more than 200 pounds and dressed in black, grabbed her arm, led her to a stairwell and forced her to the ground, paying no attention to the photo pass she was wearing. Torpea said she was “collapsing under his pressure. I had no idea what was going on. He had no ID and wouldn’t tell me who he was. He kept saying, ‘You know what you did. Give me the f***ing camera.’”
Pageant manager Michael Mitchell told the Times that he and his staff were “shocked” when they came upon the attack. The man ripped Torpea’s camera from her neck and fled the scene. He came back minutes later after deleting all the images from the camera, saying, “You’ll never work for MCR or (the band’s label) Warner Bros. again!”
Torpea called the police two hours later, after being treated at the scene by a medic. By the time police arrived, the band had left the venue. The crime was filed as “assault third degree” and the attacker’s identity remains unknown.
When contacted by the Times, a publicist for My Chemical Romance said the band was “definitely looking into it and will take appropriate action,” adding that they felt “horrible” and wanted to make “amends.”
Torpea eventually got a phone call from the band’s manager, who apologized for the incident and offered to fly her and her boyfriend to New York to attend the group’s concert at Madison Square Garden on May 9th. She was given full photo access and was invited to the band’s after-show party.
